#1 Got to start somewhere

Got to start somewhere.

It dawned on me this afternoon while doing the school run that I should keep a regular blog. It’s something I used to do when I practiced hypnotherapy, but the problem was that I felt like the posts had to be hypnosis-related, or at least relate to self-improvement. All well and good, but although it started off with the best intentions, in the end I would run out of steam. So rather than focus on a particular niche, I’m going to instead just keep the focus on the writing itself, and just write about whatever comes to mind.

I’ve always liked writing because for me it’s a cost-effective form of therapy. If I have things weighing on my mind, or I need to make a decision (and I can be unbelievably indecisive at times), then getting everything down on the page helps get things in focus.

I’ve got scores of notebooks which have doubled as journals over the past 25 years. I keep hold of them because I like to think I’ll look over them when I’m older, wiser and with nothing better to do with my day, and laugh. Well, cringe is more like it, but still.

So this blog is going to have a bit of everything thrown in: observations and opinions, anecdotes and analysis, and reinforced with regular random rambles. Nothing too high brow or high maintenance. Mostly just fluff and nonsense, but it’s all about enjoying the writing process rather than getting caught up in the result. Maybe a direction of sorts will emerge, but I’m not counting on it.

Let’s see how it goes.
